This week, the House Economic Matters Committee is scheduled to vote on important legislation which would limit employers' use of credit checks in making hiring and other employment-related decisions. This bill is important because it affects many low-income Marylanders. The PJC supports this bill.

 

Due to the economic recession, people find themselves unemployed, behind on payments and unable to find a new job because of their credit score.  This practice has created a vicious cycle of joblessness.
